Hope This Finds You Well

I hosted Hope This Finds You Well, a writing workshop inviting participants to reflect on places they have lived — past or present — and how those addresses can hold stories of belonging, transition, memory, and identity. The workshop took place at the 125th Street Library in New York, a vital space serving the Harlem community. Through a series of guided writing prompts, we explored personal connections to place and home. Participants also had the chance to create postcards, sending their reflections out into the world as small, tangible gestures of connection.

People’s Passport Party

A hands-on workshop that explores how passports, paperwork, and borders shape our ability to move through the world. Together, we’ll reflect on our relationships to places and traveling and make our own passports that imagine new ways of belonging, traveling, or existing.

Hope This Finds You Well (Map)

During a local festival, I invited the neighbors in Philipsdorp to share the places they have lived in the city and where they come from. The workshop concluded in creating a map of the neighborhood which reflected the relationships and transitions of the people living there.

Open Sing at the Pool

As part of artist Clara Harlow’s residency at the Matt Dishman Community Center Pool, I collaborated with Lou Blumberg to host Open Sing, a playful singing workshop that took place during the center’s Sunday morning “Open Swim.” Together, we invited swimmers and visitors to join us in simple, communal singing activities, transforming the pool into an echoing, shared soundscape. The Matt Dishman Community Center is an important space for connection and recreation in Portland, and this event offered a moment to bring people together through voice, water, and shared presence.

Pause and Rest Workshop

In this workshop, co-organized with Nina Vichayapai and inspired by Tricia Hersey’s Rest is Resistance, we hosted a group session for our MFA cohort. We facilitated a discussion on acts of care and sharing, and created a ‘spa center’ setup where participants engaged in acts of care for one another, fostering a space of rest and mutual support.

Sleeping Tight Workshop

In this workshop, I invited participants to explore their sleep cycles and bedtime routines, drawing from my artistic research on how sleep and rest are shaped by late capitalism and my experience as a peer health educator at Portland State University’s Student Health and Counseling Center (SHAC). The workshop included the science of sleep, its social influences, and practical strategies for improving sleep quality. Participants also created their own personalized bedtime routines.

Love Letter to a Place Workshop

Co-hosted with Nina Vichayapai and Clara Harlow, this workshop explored the concept of Hiraeth—a deep longing for the lost places of your past or a home we can no longer return to. We invited participants to reflect on places that held personal significance, writing letters to these past locations, exploring the emotional ties and nostalgia they evoke.

Love Letter to Roommate Workshop

As part of my self-imposed artist residency in my student dorm, I organized a Valentine’s Week workshop inviting residents to write appreciation letters to their roommates. With most students living in shared apartments, the event aimed to highlight and celebrate the often-overlooked bonds between roommates.
