Airports are the capital of goodbyes. Yet, we rarely stop to think about how we perform them. In this guided workshop, I lead participants to explore the unique, often overlooked ways we part ways, investigating how the ritual shifts depending on the situation, the relationship, and the borders we are about to cross. By playing with these moments, turning anxiety into art, we reveal the hidden choreography underneath. You’ll leave with a toolkit of new perspectives, ready to face the next gate with a bit more humor and a lot more presence.

This workshop was a result of my 10 week long artist residency at Community for Positive Ageing. I worked with Djodi Deutsch, a passionate traveler, artist and community member at the center. Following our mutual interest in traveling, movement and transit, we met each other over several weeks to share our personal stories of traveling, transition and moving cities/countries. Responding to the increasing surveillance and restrictions at Airports, We wanted to create a space to reflect on the personal and intimate parts of navigating through an airport as a site.
